PA Watson has noted that good natural rubber is proving harder to find, and thus more expensive than it has been before. Another issue is that decent hubs are in and out of availability.
Given these points, it's very likely that the maximum price of a pair of tires...set at $15 for the last few years...is likely to go up. PA's working some angles and I'm staying in touch with him.
