Please note that the maximum price of tires is going up from $15 to $20, the result of a shortage of natural rubber and magnesium rims (which will also affect wonder rubber tires). There are perhaps tires still available at the older prices, but best assumption is that all natural rubber tires will soon be going up.

2.C Rear Tires – This section is revised as follows effective February 2

While other manufacturers’ tires are allowed, the “Official Tires of the South Texas Scale Series” are P.A. Watson’s Jet Scale Spec natural rubber tires.

Only the following tires are allowed:
REVISED Feb 2:natural rubber rear tires (aka “fish,” Tuna, Piranha, etc.), untreated or treated, with price not to exceed $20.00/pair
REVISED Feb 2:wonder rubber tires, with price not to exceed $20.00/pair

When selecting tires, be sure to note that the following are specifically disallowed in all cases:
    • waffled hubs, regardless of price.
    • speed rubber tires, regardless of price.
NEW / CHANGED: “Not Wonder” tires, regardless of price; and
REVISED Feb 2:any tire with a suggested retail price exceeding$20.00/pair

There are no maximum or minimum diameters or widths for rear tires. Just make sure the car meets clearance and dimensions stated in Section 2.A

      Reminder:

Now that Race 3 has been run, a number of older motors and bodies that had been grandfathered-in from previous years are no longer allowed.

Please see Appendices A-D of the 2022 rules for complete info.

      Thanks

Here are some additions and clarifications:

Clarification: The Ralph Thorne Orca LMP body that has been on the legal bodies list for a couple of years has been slightly revised at the front end, perhaps to make it stronger. The part number for the revised Orca is the same, and the body is otherwise the same as the older one. This revised version is legal effective immediately.

Addition: There is a new "high-downforce" version of the Orca with part number RTR-ORCAHD005, -7, -10 which is also legal effective immediately. I'm not sure how much more "down-forcey" it is compared to the original Orca; its rear air dam extends about 1/8-inch further toward the front of the car, and the "fenders" above the rear tires are narrower. We'll see.

Addition: There is a new Mid-America chassis called the Mercury, part number MID 214, retail price $34.99. It is legal for LMP effective immediately. Note that Mid-America calls it a flexy chassis, but it's a one-piece stainless steel chassis without separate pans and feels kind of stiff to me. I got one from Jim this week and will try one out in the next month or two.

I'll get these changes added to the rules and re-post them, though it may be several weeks.

        Thanks

In addition to above, please note the following:

Addition: The Ralph Thorne Raptor "Pro FK" 50k motor with BBs is legal in LMP (part no. 1250)

Addition: The new JK12BB motor is now legal in Pro GTP (part no. JKM12BB)
