World and National Champion PA Watson brought his broom to San Antonio, sweeping the wins and TQs at Race 4 of the 2023 South TX Scale Series on June 10.
We had eight racers for LMP and ran four minutes on each of the six inner lanes to free up a couple of marshals. PA jumped to an early lead over Kurt Van Delden and me and held on for a three-lap win. Kurt and I tied for second, but I led on the track by about 15 feet for the place. Complete results are embedded below.
Here’s the LMP podium, L-R: Kurt Van Delden, 3rd; PA Watson, winner; Scott Taylor, 2nd
In Pro GTP, six racers ran crash-and-burn format on all eight lanes. PA ran a fairly conservative pace to avoid long time-outs often experienced in the format it was really never close after the second heat. Hayward Gaude and Oliver Green finished well-deserved two-three, while the rest of us were crash-and-burn chicanes. Again, complete results are embedded below.
Pro GTP podium, L-R: Hayward Gaude, 2nd; PA Watson, winner; Oliver Green, 3rd
Thanks again to Jim Honeycutt for the place to play, and to Cliff Wheeler for running the shop while Jim ran the show.
